Claremont Extended Access

The refreshed Claremont Library is now open with a NEW main entrance! Clients can now access the Claremont Library directly, without having to go through the community centre. The new main entrance is for entry and exiting and the previous internal door is now only accessible in the event of an emergency.

Staff look forward to seeing the community during the NEW hours of operation:

Staffed Hours (beginning December 2):

  • Monday to Friday: 4 pm - 8 pm
  • Saturday: 1 pm - 5 pm
  • Sunday: Closed

Extended Access Program

Have you noticed a new machine outside the new Claremont Library main entrance? Clients who enroll in the Extended Access program can access the Claremont Library beyond the regularly staffed hours.

NEW Extended Access Hours (beginning December 2):

  • Monday to Friday: 10 am - 4 pm
  • Saturday: 10 am - 1 pm
  • Sunday: Closed

For Extended Access program participants, your updated library card status means you can enjoy the Claremont Library for an additional 41 hours per week (Monday to Saturday).

To enroll in this service, clients will need to complete a registration form in-person at any Pickering Public Library location.

Acknowledgments

The Library would like to express our appreciation to the Claremont Lions Club for generously providing their meeting room space for a temporary pop-up throughout the construction period. This helped ensured library clients could still access their valued library services when the branch was closed.

As part of this renovation, the in-library washroom has been updated into a more accessible facility for all clients to use while visiting the library. This has been made possible with funding from the Province of Ontario.
