Pickering, ON – (June 5, 2024) – Pickering Public Library is delighted to announce the addition of four new state-of-the-art work pods available for booking by clients. This enhancement has been made possible through a generous grant from the Community Services Recovery Fund, provided by the Government of Canada.
These innovative work pods are designed to offer a quiet, private, and comfortable space for individuals seeking an optimal environment for work, study, or virtual meetings. Notably, one of the four pods is fully accessible, ensuring that all members of the community, including those with disabilities, have access to this valuable resource.
Each work pod is equipped with high-speed internet, power outlets, ergonomic seating, and soundproofing to create a distraction-free experience. The accessible pod includes additional features such as adjustable furniture and assistive technology to accommodate various needs.
“We are thrilled to introduce these work pods as part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing the resources and services we offer to our community,” says Jackie Flowers, CEO of Pickering Public Library. “Thanks to the support from the Community Services Recovery Fund and the Government of Canada, we can provide a dedicated space that meets the diverse needs of our clients, promoting productivity, inclusivity and propelling us into the future.”
The Community Services Recovery Fund is part of a broader initiative by the Government of Canada to support community organizations in their recovery and rebuilding efforts post-pandemic. The new work pods are expected to be a significant asset for students, remote workers, entrepreneurs, and anyone in need of a quiet place to work.
Booking a work pod is simple and can be done through the Pickering Public Library’s website or by visiting the library’s service desk. The pods are available at the Central Library, during regular operating hours. To reserve them you need a Pickering Public Library card, clients can reserve them up to 36 hours in advance to ensure availability.
“We are grateful for the Community Services Recovery Fund’s support and are excited to see how our community will benefit from these new work pods,” added Flowers. “This addition aligns with our mission to provide a welcoming and resource-rich environment for learning, productivity, and personal growth.”
