Pickering Public Library Welcomes Clients Back to the Refreshed Claremont Branch

Pickering Public Library Welcomes Clients Back to the Refreshed Claremont Branch

PICKERING, ON (November 7, 2023): Pickering Public Library is thrilled to welcome clients back to the recently renovated Claremont Branch. The renovations include new furniture, an open-concept layout, a new main entrance, a new accessible public washroom, new hours of operation, and a new self-service option.

The new staffed hours of operation are:

  • Monday: 1 pm - 5 pm
  • Tuesday: 4 pm - 8 pm
  • Thursday: 4 pm - 8 pm
  • Saturday: 1 pm - 5 pm

In addition to the new staffed hours, the Library is pleased to announce a pilot program that offers a self-serve option called “Extended Access” which will expand the Claremont Library to be open six days a week for an additional 41 self-serve hours per week. To enroll in this service, clients will need to complete a registration form in-person at any Pickering Public Library location. The pilot runs until September 30, 2024. To view the Extended Access hours of operation, visit www.pickeringlibrary.ca/claremont-refresh

As part of this facility refresh, a staff washroom was reconstructed to create an accessible in-library washroom for all clients to use while visiting the Claremont Branch. The washroom facility transformation has been made possible with funding from the Province of Ontario.

To celebrate these exciting improvements, the community is invited to the Grand Re-Opening of the Claremont Library on Saturday, November 18, from 10 am – 12 pm. The event will include a storytime, family-friendly activities, and a formal ribbon-cutting. Registration is not required.

Regular library services have resumed at the Claremont Library. For location details or to register for a library card, visit www.pickeringlibrary.ca.
