Pickering Public Library Reopens Maker Space

PICKERING, ON (July 6, 2021) – The Pickering Public Library (PPL) is excited to announce that the Central Library Maker Space is reopening on July 7.

Clients will be able to book an appointment for the equipment available, which currently includes the sewing machine, an Adobe Design Suite computer, large scale printer, button maker, binding machine, and analogue to digital converter.

 The appointment schedule will be as follows:

  Monday Wednesday Friday
Appointment #1 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. 1:15 to 2:15 p.m.
Appointment #2 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Appointment #3 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. 3:45 to 4:45 p.m.

Walk-in usage may be possible if there are no bookings.

Clients will be required to follow all safety procedures, and equipment will be wiped down between each use. All equipment listed is available for on-site use only, at this time.

The Maker Space is a place where imaginations soar. The space fosters creativity and innovation while empowering clients. In the Maker Space, clients have access to 21st century tools and learning styles where they can test concepts, design, create, and build with a community of makers to bring ideas to life.

As staff work on reopening this space, more equipment will become available to use and the Library’s website will be updated with the latest details.
