    Yes, you must live in Pickering to qualify for the Drop-In Tax Clinic.

    If you do not live in Pickering, visit https://www.durham.ca/en/living-here/file-your-taxes.aspx for free tax clinic options in Durham Region.

    Even if you do not live in Pickering, you can attend one of the Pickering Public Library's introductory workshops on using Wealthsimple to learn how to file your taxes on your own. To register for a workshop visit pickeringlibrary.ca/taxes.

    To have a volunteer tax preparer file your taxes, you will need the following documents:

    • All applicable tax information slips, including your T4, T4E, T4(OAS), T4(P), T5, T3, RC62, T5007, T2201 etc. 
    • If you are a homeowner, bring your final property tax bill
    • If you are renting, bring rent receipts from your landlord
    • Medical receipts, including receipts for dental bills, eyeglasses, and prescription medications
    • Any charitable donation receipts 
    • Your previous year's Notice of Assessment

    The free software demonstrated during our tax filing workshops can be used by clients outside of the workshop to file their income tax returns from prior years.

    No, you must be present while your taxes are being completed by the volunteer during the Drop-In Tax Clinic.
