    Black & White printing: 10 cents a page

    The Library provides Wireless Printing services at our Central, George Ashe and Claremont locations. These services are designed to accommodate our clients' needs to print from their personal devices (laptops, phones, tablets, etc.).

    Mobility Print: To use Mobility Print at the Library, navigate to the Mobility Print setup (available on Library Wifi only) and follow the instructions for your device. You will be required to create your own PaperCut account in order to use Mobility Print to submit your print job. Click on this link to create a PaperCut account. Once submitted the document can be released from the Release Station by entering your username.

    Once received the document can be released from the 1st Floor release station by entering your Papercut account name.

    Note:
    You will need to verify your email address the first time you submit a print job. Colour or B&W needs to be chosen at time of printing.

    All three Library locations have a photocopier.

    Colour copies (Letter/Legal): 50 cents a page

    Colour copies (Tabloid): $1.00 cents a page

    All PPL locations offer free WiFi. Look for the network Library Wifi on your device. No special settings, usernames or passwords are required.

    Yes, library cards are required to log in to public computers. If you do not have a library card, please speak to staff about getting registered for one. Public computers are available on a first-come-first-served basis.

    The Central Library and George Ashe Library have a fax machine for public use. The following rates apply: $1 for the first page; 50 cents each additional page for local numbers; $2 for the first page; $1 each additional page for long distance within North America; $4.00 per page for International faxes.

    The first-come first-serve loanable laptop service is offered at Central and George Ashe Library. You will need your Pickering Public Library card and a piece of Photo ID to borrow one. Each laptop comes pre-installed with Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel). You will also be able to take Zoom or Teams calls with the built-in camera and microphone. Remote printing is also available using Paper Cut (Click here to create Paper Cut account). All computers are ready to go with just a click of the button and comes with a USB mouse for easier user experience. All laptop profile and associated files are erased after each client use to protect your privacy and ready to use for the next client.
     
    Please note laptops must remain in the library and cannot be taken offsite.

    All of our computers have access to Microsoft Office and Internet Browsers. We have Mac computers in our Maker Space that have access to Adobe Creative Suite, Audacity, ShotCut, Blender, and Apple iWorks Suite.

    There are no time limits to public computer use. We do ask clients to be finished their computer use by closing time.

    The Central Library has a flatbed scanner and a direct-to-usb scanner both for public use at the Central Library, George Ashe Library and Claremont Library.

    Scanning is available at 8 1/2 x 11 (Letter), 8 1/2 x 14 (Legal) at all 3 branches and 11 x 17 (Tabloid) at the Central and George Ashe Libraries. The documents can be saved as JPG or PDF on your USB drive. Scanning is free.

    Yes, but we assume no responsibility for personal equipment plugged into our electrical outlets.

    Yes, you may use your flash drive on our public computers.

    Accessible self-checkout stations are available at the Central Library.

    The Pickering Public Library's website uses BrowseAloud, a free software for people who have difficulty reading online. For instructions for using this software, please read the BrowseAloud help page.

    There is also a magnifier at the Central Library.

    Payment methods include coins and cash, payment by debit/credit card can be set up by speaking with staff.

    Log in to the library website. In the top right-hand corner, select Log In/My PPL. Use your library barcode as your username (until you create a username) and your PIN is the last four digits of your phone number.
